The Electric Power Innovation for a Carbon-free Society (EPICS) Center is an NSF Global Center<\/a> for use-inspired research addressing global challenges in climate change and clean energy that is led by Johns Hopkins University (JHU) and based out of the Ralph O\u2019Connor Sustainable Energy Institute (ROSEI)<\/a>. EPICS in the UK and Australia are funded by the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and the CSIRO and are led by Imperial College London<\/a> and University of Melbourne. Georgia Tech, University of California-Davis, University of Strathclyde, University of Edinburgh, Monash University, and Resources for the Future are also collaborators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On 27-30 January 2026, CSIRO hosted an Australian EPICS workshop at the Energy Centre in Newcastle. The workshop was attended by 66 EPICS and EPICS-affiliate academics, students and industry representatives, and featured 4 keynote presentations, 20 poster presentations by PhD students and Postdoctoral Fellows, and the training tutorial \u201cEmerging approaches in distribution network optimization\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
