Namita Choudhury, RMIT University Australia

Professor Namita Choudhury is the Head of the Chemical & Environmental Engineering department at RMIT. She joined the School of Engineering, RMIT University in 2018. Prior to that Choudhury was a Professor at University of Adelaide and University of South Australia for last 20 years. Her expertise lies at the interface of polymer science and nano/biomaterials with a focus on both fundamental and applied research. She has won and is currently leading a number of major collaborative projects (ARC grants, Industry Transformation Hubs, Special Research Centre, CRC-P, CRC) with interdisciplinary teams of national, international and industry partners. She has trained over 30 PhD students and mentored a large cohort of ECRs. An author/co-author of >250 publications, a co-inventor of 7 recent patents, her current research focuses on bioprocessing to produce engineered protein, probiotic bacteria for treatment of gut dysbiosis, bioplastics, novel bio-based composites and nanocomposites from agricultural and recycled resources for the sustainable bio-economy and moving towards a Circular Economy.
