Chengrong Chen, Griffith University

Chen is the Research Director of the Solving Plastic Waste CRC and a Distinguished Professor in Environmental Biogeochemistry at Griffith University. Prof Chen was a former ARC Future Fellow, and his key research areas include waste recycling and reuse, microplastic and PFAS detection and quantification, biogeochemical cycling, carbon sequestration, land application of recycled organics, assessment of impacts of global environmental change, and restoration of degraded ecosystems. He is currently leading a team of over 25 researchers, including 11 PhD students and 7 Postdoctoral Fellows.  Prof Chen has secured over $20M external funding in the past decade, published over 200 papers with a H-index of 63 (Google Scholar) and supervised 26 PhD to completion and mentored 15 Postdoc successfully. He serves as an ARC Expert Panel Member (2022-2025) and an editor in five different scientific journals.
