{"id":1612,"date":"2024-06-24T15:51:39","date_gmt":"2024-06-24T05:51:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.csiro.au\/epws24\/?p=1612"},"modified":"2024-07-24T11:44:02","modified_gmt":"2024-07-24T01:44:02","slug":"best-practice-in-the-emerging-advanced-recycling-sector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp.csiro.au\/epws24\/best-practice-in-the-emerging-advanced-recycling-sector\/","title":{"rendered":"Best practice in the emerging advanced recycling sector"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Presentation by Tim Kaliyanda (Licella)<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:2px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Abstract<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Advanced recycling (or chemical recycling) transforms plastic back into its chemical building blocks (in the form of oil) and enables a continuously circular economy for soft plastic, by enabling the production of food-grade recycled content for packaging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The session will explore best practices and available advanced recycling technologies, alongside some of the policy mechanisms required to support this new market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The presentation will address the development of standards to ensure consistency and quality in advanced recycling, and examine current EU policy developments related to the adoption of a mass balance approach. Additionally, it will highlight how Australia can learn from more mature markets overseas, adopting policies and best practices that drive circular economy principles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The talk will reinforce the importance of a systems-wide approach where cost, risk and rewards are shared among the value chain.
