Abstract opening:
Fast and permanent sequestration of carbon dioxide is one of the critical challenges in mitigating anthropogenic emissions. Mineral carbonation, which is the reaction between CO2 and different alkaline based minerals such as Mg(OH)2 or Ca(OH)2 could offer an option for a fast, large scale and long-term CO₂ sequestration.
