Fast and permanent sequestration of carbon dioxide is one of the critical challenges in mitigating anthropogenic emissions. Mineral carbonation, which is the reaction between CO₂ and different alkaline based minerals such as Mg(OH)2 or Ca(OH)2 could offer an option for a fast, large scale and long-term CO₂ sequestration.
