Oral presentation: Chemical Looping CO2-to-CO Conversion Using Structured Oxygen Carriers

Anthropogenic CO2 emissions are a major contributor to global warming and climate change. Transforming CO2 from a greenhouse gas into a valuable C1 feedstock offers a promising pathway to mitigate emissions while enabling sustainable chemical production. Among various utilization strategies, the conversion of CO2 to carbon monoxide (CO) is particularly attractive, as CO serves as a key intermediate for synthesizing fuels and chemicals such as alcohols, hydrocarbons, and organic acids. This approach not only contributes to closing the carbon loop but also supports the transition toward a circular carbon economy. Several technologies have been developed for CO2-to-CO conversion, including electrochemical, photochemical, and thermal catalytic processes. Of these, thermal catalytic routes powered by green electricity and green hydrogen stand out for their scalability and operational flexibility.
