Welcome to MOTI 2025
The Marine Omics Technology & Instrumentation (MOTI) Workshop is a three-day summit focused on addressing critical challenges and accelerating the development of ocean-deployable molecular sampling and sensing technologies.
The workshop aims to:
Foster Innovation
Accelerate the development and application of novel omics technologies in marine science through shared experiences, knowledge exchange, and community-driven advancement.
Strengthen Collaborations
Build and enhance partnerships across disciplines, institutions, and regions to support the co-development and adoption of emerging marine omics technologies.
Explore Practical Solutions for Global Adoption
Identify and address challenges and opportunities in deploying next-generation omics technologies, with a focus on increasing global accessibility and relevance in diverse marine contexts.
Ensure Scalability for Diverse Environmental Monitoring Needs
Develop strategies to scale, integrate, and standardise omics-based methods to meet local, regional, and global environmental monitoring requirements—from coastal habitats to the deep ocean.
More information on the workshop themes may be found on our Themes page.
Following the success of MOTI 2023 at Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, this year’s summit will be hosted by Australia’s national science agency, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), at the CSIRO Marine Laboratories site, in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.
