Lee-Ann Kirkham

A/Prof Lea-Ann Kirkham is an infectious disease research microbiologist at The Kids Research Institute Australia, leading a team developing therapies to prevent and treat childhood ear and lung infections including Spritz-OM – a nasal vaccine advancing to first-in-human trials.

Her research has influenced government policy and global vaccine development. Lea-Ann is passionate about bridging discovery research and clinical development, bringing consumers and community along on the journey. She strives to deliver impactful, industry-informed research to improve childhood outcomes.

In 2022 she was awarded  a 5-year Stan Perron Charitable Foundation Fellowship and in 2024 was accepted into the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences mentoring program that nurtures and supports emerging research leaders.
