This 3-day short course offers a deep dive into extrusion science and technology for both food and feed applications. It is presented independently by D. Forte & Associates, who have delivered extrusion training worldwide for over 20 years. The course is unbiased and not affiliated with any equipment suppliers, focusing on fundamental principles and practical insights.
Hands-on demonstrations will be conducted using the extrusion pilot plant at CSIROβs Food Innovation Centre.

- Role of rheology in extrusion
- Die types, effects & design
- Extrusion chemistry & recipe formulation
- Product density control
- Preconditioning for extrusion
- Extruder instability: causes & effects
- Equipment wear & troubleshooting

Join us for a guided tour of the pilot-scale extrusion factory and laboratory facilities at CSIRO. See where extrusion innovations are developed first-hand and get a behind-the-scenes look at our pilot-scale processing equipment, sensory facilities, product characterisation laboratories.
This tour is available to all symposium attendees and course participants. Further details on timings and registration will be provided closer to the event.
