Extrusion CoP #8 – Reflections on the CSIRO Smart Extrusion Program

This month, we had the privilege of hearing from Jay Sellahewa, former CSIRO Food Engineer and long-time leader of the Smart Extrusion Program. Jay shared insights from his 23 years at CSIRO, focusing on the rationale behind establishing extrusion capabilities in the early 1990s, key research projects, and major outcomes and learnings from the program.

Now an Adjunct Fellow at UNSW Sydney, Jay’s reflections offered valuable historical context and highlighted lessons that continue to shape extrusion innovation today.
